“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.”
– Ernest Hemingway
Hello everyone, update July 2016
This is the website for RGV Randos, dedicated to Randonneuring in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Also check out the RGV Randos Facebook page.
Registration will always be posted here. Events:
For 2016 the rides for 1/30/2016 and 4/9/2016 are complete and a ride for 11/12/2016 is scheduled. TXDOT has again announced the Rio Hondo Bridge will be under construction sometime in the near future. It will be at least a 11 month project. In essence, that means I will not schedule Randos that use the bridge…until it is complete…such as the approved routes starting in Port Isabel. I have plenty of new routes approved for Harlingen and Edinburg. If I have time, I will plan some new routes to start and end from the Brownsville Sports Park…any help and ideas appreciated.
Registration is now online for November.
I will soon have to submit routes/rides for 2017 that will be ACP certified. At that point the dates and routes are locked in. The submissions are required next month….well in advance.
I’m still looking for someone to help me out, this is a volunteer “position” and I need some help in planning and logistics. Please drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to help. Thanks!
