June and July Randos (2017)

Hello everyone,

For June 17th we had 34 riders attempt the 109K. It was a very hot and windy day with sustained winds around 25 Mph and gusts over 30 Mph. Congrats to all the riders who attempted and those who finished the 68+ mile ride. I’m still looking at adding an August event.

For July 8th we have the following:

Time limit for 109K is 7AM to 2:16PM. (68 miles)

Time limit for 205K is 5AM to 6:40PM. (128 miles)

Time limit for 301K is 5AM to 1:04AM. (188 miles) (next morning)

We have wheels down at 5 or 7AM. Bring your lights and reflective gear! Helmets are also required.

Since I have to discuss a portion of the route be there at least thirty minutes before the start time.

There are restrooms at the sports complex that are usually open but a Stripes is one mile down the road if needed.

If you know of anyone who is riding and has not registered please remind them.

See everyone¬†bright and early….especially the 5AM riders.

I will be adding at least one more event this summer, likely in August.

Remember if you want to be a RUSA member you can sign up or renew at www.rusa.org Yes by design and rules Randos are un-supported rides.

Routes and cue sheets are here: Routes

I will have cue cards and cue sheets at the event.

See you out there on the bike paths, be safe and keep riding. To all the riders who have participated in 2014, 2015, 2016 and now 2017 rides, thanks for being there and keeping the sport of Randonneuring alive in South Texas. More fun will be had in the future.
