For the April 9, 2016 ride we had 15 riders attempt the new 109K with 11 riders finishing the ride. Temps were a bit warm and that howling wind of South TX had us in it’s grips starting late morning. Results are posted on the results page and also submitted to RUSA website. If I missed anyone please let me know.
For this ride we started at the Harlingen Soccer Complex for the first time. What a convenient starting point, especially for me. Restrooms were open and a lighted picnic area is available for registration and gathering.
So if you finished the 109K on a tough WINDY day, great job and those who did not finish it was a difficult day and there will be future opportunities. We also had several riders do their first Rando so that is always nice to see.
Thanks to those who donated $5 for the rise in RUSA insurance premiums. Thank you!!!
Congrats to everyone and see you again next time, likely in November but maybe earlier since we had to cancel the 205K due to road construction and so many of our normal riders were either doing triathlon or the Ironman. I’m still working on some additional routes, a 300K out of Harlingen and a couple more 100K routes.
Remember if you want to be a RUSA member you can sign up or renew at www.rusa.org and that covers insurance and you get a great magazine several times a year.
See you out there on the bike paths, be safe and keep riding. To all the riders who have participated in 2014 and 2015 and now 2016 rides, thanks for being there and keeping the sport of Randonneuring alive in South Texas. More fun will be had in the future.
